Terry Goodkind
De Amerikaanse schrijver Terry Goodkind (1948) werd geboren in Omaha Nebraska. Al van jongs af aan was hij gek op schrijven. Na de kunstacademie was Terry onder andere werkzaam als timmerman, natuurkunstenaar en vioolbouwer, maar na verloop van tijd besefte hij dat schrijven zijn echte passie was. Lezen heeft Terry altijd moeite gekost, omdat hij dyslectisch is. Dit maakte hem een langzame lezer, en ook maakte hij veel schrijffouten. Op school werd hij uitgelachen en belachelijk gemaakt door leraren die zijn probleem niet herkenden. Desondanks bleef Terry lezen. Hij deed dit echter stiekem, zodat volwassenen hem er niet belachelijk mee konden maken. Tijdens het lezen verloor hij zich in andere werelden. Dit voelde hij niet als lezen, want bij lezen, dacht hij, hoorden saaie verhalen. Hij las niet, hij ervoer een soort 'verhalenmagie'. Naarmate hij ouder werd, ging Terry steeds minder lezen. Wel bleef hij verhalen verzinnen, maar deze zette hij nooit op papier, bang als hij was om te veel spelfouten te maken. In het laatste jaar van de middelbare school kreeg Terry een lerares Engels die hem niet belachelijk maakte. Ze las de verhalen die hij als opdracht bij haar inleverde en stimuleerde hem om te blijven schrijven. Ze leerde hem ook hoe hij zijn schrijven kon verbeteren. Tegenwoordig woont Terry Goodkind in Maine - in een huis dat hij zelf heeft gebouwd met zijn vrouw Jeri - en is fulltime schrijver. In zijn vrije tijd trekt hij er graag op uit, de wilde natuur in. De natuur die hem inspireert in zijn werk.

Book 6: Faith of the Fallen
Richard and Kahlan are pitted against threats to the freedom of the world, taking them to opposite ends of the world to defeat the forces of chaos and anarchy.
Emperor Jagang is rising once again in the Old World and Richard must face him, on his own turf. Richard heads into the Old World with Cara, the Mord-Sith, while his beloved Kahlan remains behind. Unwilling to heed an ancient prophecy, Kahlan raises an army and goes into battle against forces threatening armed insurrection in the Midlands.
Separated and fighting for their lives, Richard and Kahlan will be tested to the utmost.
