Een sublieme beschrijving van het leven in Transylvania en in Maramures. Het verhaal is zo aangrijpend, dat we in 2016 zelf op zoek zijn gegaan naar het dorpje. We vonden zowel de grafstenen van de beide broertjes en van Mihai die de auteur als jongeman in huis heeft genomen , de woonplaats waarin zich een deel van de roman heeft afgespeeld, de gehuchtjes waartussen de hoofdpersoon zich heeft verplaatst.

Een heerlijk boek voor wie Roemenië een warm hart toedraagt, bijna om jaloers van te worden hoe de auteur opgaat in de bevolking en alles zo prachtig beschrijft !
