Dit boek is het eerste deel van de Finishing School serie, die plaatsvindt in dezelfde wereld als de Parasol Protectorate serie van Gail Carriger. Het is een luchtig, grappig boek, een 'Comedy of Manners'. Hoewel het meer gericht is op tieners, is het zeker ook aan te raden voor volwassenen. Als je de Parasol Protectorate boeken gelezen hebt, moet je deze zeker ook eens proberen. Als je die serie niet kent, is dat geen probleem, deze serie is een prequel, en staat dus grotendeels los van de Parasol Protectorate.
