Annick Cojean (Brest, 1957) is buitenlandcorrespondente voor Le Monde. Daarnaast schrijft ze non-fictie en is ze werkzaam voor de Franse televisie en radio. Toen ze in contact kwam met Soraya, schreef ze in eerste instantie een artikel over haar in Le Monde. Voor het boek Khaddafi's slavin ging ze ook op zoek naar andere slachtoffers van Khaddafi's harem.
