Interactive Computer Graphics fourth edition presents introductory computer graphics concepts using a proven top-down, programming-oriented approach and careful integration of OpenGL to teach core concepts. The fourth edition has been revised to more closely follow the OpenGL pipeline architecture and includes a new chapter on programmable hardware topics (vertex shaders). As with previous editions, students learn to program three-dimensional applications as soon as possible--low level algorithms (for topics such as line drawing and fill polygons) are presented after students are creating graphics. The Fourth edition focuses on core theory in graphics. All topics required for a fundamental course, such as light-material interactions, shading, modeling, curves and surfaces, antialiasing, texture mapping, and compositing and hardware issues are covered.

    • State-of-the art

    I read this book for my computer graphics course however I suggest it to every one (with a maths and computer science background) who wants to become a game programmer or work on computer graphics.

    It gives you the background information on graphics systems, knowledge on OpenGL API, Scene Graphs, transformations, matrix calculations, vectors, necessary algorithms, formulas to implement shading, rasterizing, clipping etc.

    This book is not for you, if you are looking for a:
    -step by step how to make a game book
    -language specific reference book
    -hands-on programming book

    This book is for you if:
    -you are a computer science student and want to get into computer graphics and learn in detail the necessary concepts and algorithms in computer graphics
