Masks of Venice Lucy`s Successful Quest for Magic

Lucy and Pippa are divorced in their forties. They are sure life must have more excitement than the lives they`ve settled for. They decide that a visit to Venice at Carnival time might just bring them some magic, especially if they get tickets to one of the very exclusive balls available. From her first chance meeting with an agreeable stranger who looks strangely famiiar to the odd but exciting events of the ball they enter a chain of events that will change them forever. They will find magic but not as they could ever have imagined it. Lucy realises from the moment in her first day that she must buy a dress that is everything she never thought she would suit, elegant, sophisticated , a little dangerous, that she was changing. Yet both realise the masks they take on at the ball do not so much hide them as allow deeper selves to appear which they had never truly suspected. Lucy first of all and then Pippa are led down a path they would never have believed possible . It is dangerous, bewildering but very exciting. By being forced to abandon the roles they have always had they find life as it should be.In Venice at Carnival time they meet compulsively attractive men. Both uneasily suspect there is something more behind this attraction than they could possibly explain. A powerful Italian politician, an elegant Spanish outlaw, obviously attractive men, but the truth is much more surprising.
