Ik heb dit boek gekocht naar aanleiding van een samenvatting. De principles voor goede communicatie die in deze samenvatting staan zijn duidelijk. Het boek is helaas vooral een lofzang over de schrijver zelf: John Maxwell. Hoofdstuk na hoofdstuk beschrijft hij hoe goed hij is in communiceren en een band creëren met mensen. De voorbeelden die hij aanhaalt met betrekking tot de richtlijnen voor goede communicatie slaan allemaal op hemzelf, en dan vooral over de tijd dat hij leider was in zijn kerk en over de vele lezingen die hij heeft gegeven. Dit wekt niet alleen irritatie op bij mij, het overschaduwt ook de 'Five Principles and Five Practices' die wel belangrijk zijn. Daarbij is alles gebaseerd op zijn gevoel, en wordt er weinig tot geen bewijs aangedragen. Geen aanrader.
