David Baldacci

David Baldacci is de succesvolle auteur van meer dan 30 thrillers, romans, jeugdthrillers en kinderboeken. Hij werd geboren in Virginia en studeerde politieke wetenschappen aan de Virginia Commonwealth University, waar hij cum laude afstudeerde, en rechten aan de University of Virginia. Tijdens deze periode begon hij met schrijven. Na zijn studies was hij negen jaar werkzaam als bedrijfsjurist en advocaat in Washington D.C. In 1996 debuteerde hij met Het recht van de macht en vanaf dat moment wijdde hij zich geheel aan het schrijven. Baldacci's werk is in 45 talen vertaald en wereldwijd zijn er meer dan 100 miljoen exemplaren van zijn boeken verkocht. Zijn debuut Absolute Power werd in 1997 verfilmd door en met Clint Eastwood. Met zijn Wish You Well Foundation strijdt Baldacci samen met zijn vrouw Michelle al jaar en dag tegen analfabetisme.

    Geschreven bij Last Man Standing

    FBI-agent Web London and his colleagues from the FBI's elite Hostage Rescue Team are ambushed during a narcotics related raid which results in the death of his colleagues. The fact that Web is the only survivor makes the FBI suspicious of him; is he a traitor who led his team into an ambush or is he a coward who froze and left them to die or is there something else going on? While he is devastated from grief about losing his team and feeling guilty that he couldn't save them, Web starts his own investigation to unfold the truth and prove his innocence as forces from all sides try to stop him.

    You're not going to want to put this book down once you start reading. David Baldacci combines a fluent writing style, good story and character plotting and a lot of surprising twists in this book. Another big plus is that this book doesn't have a typical standard ending.
