"Immanuel Kant (/kænt/; German: [ɪˈmaːnu̯eːl kant]; 22 April 1724 – 12 February 1804) was a German philosopher who is a central figure in modern philosophy. Kant argued that the human mind creates the structure of human experience, that reason is the source of morality, that aesthetics arises from a faculty of disinterested judgment, that space and time are forms of human sensibility, and that the world as it is ""in-itself"" is independent of humanity's concepts of it. Kant took himself to have effected a ""Copernican revolution"" in philosophy, akin to Copernicus' reversal of the age-old belief that the sun revolves around the earth. Kant's beliefs continue to have a major influence on contemporary philosophy, especially the fields of metaphysics, epistemology, ethics, political theory, and aesthetics.
Kant's views on logic and logical theory play an important part in his critical writings, especially the Critique of Pure Reason. However, since he published only one short essay on the subject, we must turn to texts derived from his logic lectures to understand his views. This volume includes three previously untranslated transcripts of Kant's logic lectures: the Blomberg Logic (1770s), the Vienna Logic supplemented by the recently discovered Hechsel Logic (1780s), and the Dohna-Wundlacken Logic (1790s). Also included is a new translation of the Jäsche Logic, compiled at Kant's request from his lectures and published in 1800, and concordances relating Kant's lectures to Georg Friedrich Meier's Excerpts from the Doctrine of Reason, the book on which Kant lectured throughout his life and in which he left extensive notes.

De Lectures of Logic geven niet alleen een duidelijk inzicht in de veranderingen in opvattingen over logica die Kant in de loop van zijn leven doormaakte. [Ze bevat namelijk zowel pre- als post-`kritiek' lecture note] Maar het is ook een goede verdieping en essentiële toevoeging voor iedereen die zich onder andere in de kritiek van de zuivere rede wil verdiepen. De lectures on Logic zijn grotendeels de logische verhandelingen van de zuivere oordeelsvormen die Kant presenteert in zijn tafel van oordeelsvormen in de Kritiek.
