She lives in Vienna with her husband the German futurist and writer Matthias Horx [de], and their two sons.[

Samenvatting

Napoleon's invasion of Egypt in 1798 was the first attack on a Middle Eastern country by a Western power in modern times. He was just twenty-eight when he invaded Egypt and it was an episode which contained in embryo many seminal events in his later life. This work looks at his epic military victories and his declaration of himself as emperor.

I don't need to waste words on this book : simply put, Paul Strathern's book is the best on the subject, for me. Well written and a fast read. Excellent notes, index and bibliography. Cannot recommend it too much.
Describes the whole Egyptian campaign from A-Z. Gives a very clear insight in what motivated Napoleon at the time and, despite his brilliance, the ease in which he used (and spent) his men. Read it !
