Jennifer Zeynab Joukhadar (Zeyn Joukhadar) is een Syrisch-Amerikaanse schrijver. Hij is geboren in New York, en heeft een islamitische vader en een christelijke moeder. Hij behaalde zijn PhD aan Brown University en werkte als biomedicus voordat hij fulltime schrijver werd. Zijn korte verhalen verschenen onder andere in Kenyon Review en The Saturday Evening Post. Hiervoor werd hij genomineerd voor de Pushcart Prize. De kaart van zout en sterren is zijn debuut en verscheen in veertien landen.
