Samenvatting

Three short stories from award-winning author Kathleen Jones, whose biographies have been published by Penguin, Constable, Time Warner, Virago and Bloomsbury. Her fiction has appeared in numerous anthologies and been broadcast on radio networks in Britain, Holland, Spain and Germany. She also writes poetry, published by Templar Poetry UK. Kathleen divides her time between England and Italy, where she lives with her partner in the hills near Carrara. In the title story, Three, a young artist gets a job as assistant to the renowned sculptor Val Mae, living with him and his ageing wife at their villa in Tuscany. Sexual and artistic tensions soon begin to affect their triangular relationship. Living with the Dead is the story of a young girl who grows up in a funeral parlour in the American mid-west. Her life seems to be going nowhere until she falls in love with a totally unsuitable boy. Glass is narrated by a lonely single mother who goes to evening class in order to meet a member of the opposite sex, and is invited out by a friendly middle-aged man. What reviewers and readers have said about Kathleen Jones’ writing:- ‘ . . reading it becomes a gripping, almost addictive experience’ Angela Leighton, Times Literary Supplement ‘ a fascinating, marvellous, utterly absorbing book.’ Sue Limb, Independy Robertson on ‘The Story-Teller’, from ‘A Life Twice Tasted’.dent on Sunday ‘Her narrative is uncluttered and direct, her analysis complex and sometimes surprising.’ Kathryn Hughes, Daily Telegraph `A powerful female voice' - Carol Ann Duffy, ‘I quickly became captivated.’ Margaret Forster on A Passionate Sisterhood. ‘I read it with huge enjoyment,’ Jacqueline Wilson on ‘The Story-Teller’. ‘I recommend this lovely book if you love literature and are intrigued, as I am, by personality and the writing process.’ Wendy Robertson.
