Later volgden vele tv-films en games, geïnspireerd op zijn werk. Clancy overleed in oktober 2013 op 66-jarige leeftijd.     Though I love "The hunt for the Red October", this book seems to be a far cry from that. It gives me the feeling Clancy wasn't involved in the writing at all, just in the commercial side...

    Where to begin? The plot is unimaginative. The writing didn't grab me. The characters were both unconvincing and uninteresting.

    However, what bugged me most were the errors in the storyline. On introduction a character has no family, a few pages later she refers to her parents and siblings. On one page a pilot worries about being unable to turn the plane with an engine less, a few paragraphs later he does it without so much as a second thought.

    It was story errors like that, that kept me from being able to immerse myself in the story. Bad.
