· Spot and challenge thoughts that make you anxious
· Reduce your focus on your body and on illness
Dr Brenda Hogan is a clinical psychologist in Vancouver, Canada, working on psychological assessment and the provision of brief psychological treatment for anxiety and depression. Dr Charles Young is based in the Department of Psychology at Rhodes University, South Africa, where he has co-ordinated professional training programmes in clinical and counselling psychology. Much of his work involves the provision of brief psychological approaches to alleviate anxiety and depression. Both Brenda and Charles previously worked at the Primary Care Psychological Treatment Service in Cambridge where they helped to develop a pioneering service in primary care based on self-help approaches to help alleviate a range of common psychological problems.
