In 1981 verscheen de Engelse Jazz-funk and soul band Imagination, voor het eerst op het toneel en wist in Nederland de single top 20 binnen te dringen, met hun sensuele hit “Bodytalk”.
De groep bestond uit Lee John, Ashley Ingram en Errol Kennedy.
Alhoewel het debut album niet de charts haalde, deden de 5 opvolgende albums dat wel, inclusief een best of en een remix album.
Tegen het eind van de jaren 80, haalde ze nog een klein succesje met “Closer” (1987). Daarna bleeft het angstvallig stil. De jaren 90 en Grunge en Britpop voerden de boventoon. In 1992 ging de groep uit elkaar.
Tussen 1981 en 1983 werden er wereldwijd 4 platina, 9 gouden en 12 zilveren platen behaald.

“40 Years” in een carrière omspannend retrospectieve verzameling van de band Imagination en hun zanger Leee John met 189 tracks over 17 cd’s. Dit is inclusief alle remixes, unreleased and demo versies en live versies. De remix tracks bevatten mixes van David Morales, Dee Vaz , Dario Caminita, Victor Simonelli,, Dimitri From Paris en nog vele andere.

40 Years Imagination featuring Leee John komt op 10 februari, 2023 uit op Edsel/Demon Records.
