Dit is de beste introductie tot de metafysica en ontologie. Elk hoofdstuk behandelt weer een nieuw onderwerp in de ontologie; het bestaan van gaten, eigenschappen van objecten, nummers en cijfers, tijd en ruimte, mereologie (delen en gehelen), meerdere universums en muziek (misschien mis er nog wat). Toen ik dit boek kocht was die niet zo duur als nu (heb ik even geluk gehad). Alles wordt haar fijn uitgelegd en staat altijd even stil wanneer er moeilijke termen worden gebruikt. Maar serieus, hij legt alles heel simpel uit. Iedereen die ontologie wilt leren en totaal geen verstand heeft hierover zal ik zeker aanraden om hiermee te beginnen! Wat kan je hierna lezen? Hierna zou je eventueel het boek kunnen lezen van Peter van Inwagen: Metaphysics, the big questions. Die is wat lastiger, maar als je Effingham hebt gelezen zal Peter van Inwagen herkent worden. Peter's boek gaat in op de zelfde onderwerpen. Alleen wat uitgebreider en uitdagender.
