Actress Marilyn Monroe went through a tough childhood to become one of the world's greatest and most enduring sex symbols. Her vulnerability and sensuality combined with her needless death ultimately led her to the status of an American cultural icon.

To say Monroe was troubled would be an understatement, the last years of her life showed a steady decline in which she was rejected by the two Kennedy brothers, fired from her last film, in the care of a psychiatrist who created an extreme dependency and her waning obsession with her growing age and receding beauty was too much to bear.
