Productbeschrijving

Stefano Landi was een invloedrijke vroege operacomponist, en Lamorte d'Orfeo wordt beschouwd als een mijlpaal in de ontwikkeling van het genre. Het verhaal begint waar Monteverdi's L'Orfeo eindigt en voert ons door de resterende avonturen van Orpheus in de onderwereld. Doodgeslagen en verscheurd door de angstaanjagende maenaden, overleeft Orpheus als dolende ziel en wordt uiteindelijk gereïncarneerd als een ster aan de hemel. Landi slaagde erin van de Griekse tragedie een tijdloos muziekdrama te maken, het uitgangspunt van alle opera's. Seen and Heard International verklaarde in de Amsterdamse productie van Pierre Audi 'nooit eerder zo'n technische perfectie' te zijn tegengekomen.
