Alia Trabucco Zerán (Chili, 1983) won een Fulbright-beurs voor haar masterstudie creatief schrijven aan de New York University en promoveerde in Spaans en Latijns-Amerikaanse Studies aan University College London. Haar debuutroman, La resta (The Remainder), stond in 2019 op de shortlist van de International Booker Prize. Ook won ze hiermee de prijs voor Best Unpublished Literary Work door het Consejo Nacional del Libro de Chile en werd ze door El País gekozen als een van hun top 10-debutanten. Schoon is haar internationale doorbraak en werd vóór verschijnen al aan dertien landen verkocht.
