Prima Games

Prima Games is de grootste uitgeverij in de Verenigde Staten van video game strategy guides. Prima Games is een imprint van de Random House Information Group en is gesitueerd in Roseville, California. De strategy guides van Prima Games hebben normaal gesproken uitgebreide walkthroughs om zo het het spel en alle karakters uit te kunnen spelen.

Het bedrijf heeft inmiddels meer dan 1400 titels uitgegeven en 90 miljoen gedrukte. In 2005 besloot Prima om ook elektronische guides aan te bieden. Voor sommige strategy guides, zoals Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar, hebben ze samen gewerkt met de gameontwikkelaars om zo de beste guide te creëren voor de speler.

Het bedrijf is in 1990 opgericht door Ben Dominitz die contact zocht met auteur Rusel DeMaria om een video game strategy guide imprint te starten genaamd: The Secrets of the Games. Op dat moment was DeMaria een senior editor van PC Games magazine en zit in de raad van GamePro. In eerste instantie zouden zei vijf guides uitbrengen voor: Nintendo Games Secrets, Sega Genesis Games Secrets, Turbografx Games Secrets, Game Boy Games Secrets en The Official Lucasfilm Games Air Combat Strategies Book. In 2006 bracht Prima Games een grote verandering aan op de markt door samen te werken met The Syndicate om zo hun MMORPG guides te verbeteren met expert content. In 2010 ging Prima Games ook hun guides verkopen op het game platform STEAM.
