"Niccolò Machiavelli (Florence, 3 mei 1469 – aldaar, 21 juni 1527) was een Italiaanse diplomaat, politiek filosoof, militair strateeg, historicus, dichter, toneelschrijver en humanist gevestigd in Florence tijdens de Italiaanse renaissance.
