heel leuke boek die zeer vlot leest!

Ik had het boek in een klap uitgelezen. Echt een leuk boek.
Meteen ook het tweede boek besteld en kan niet wachten op de derde!

Leuke, luchtige schrijfstijl.
Makkelijke in te komen.
Interessante hoofdpersonages.
Goede opbouw van verhaallijn.
Een beetje insta-love-ish maar ik denk dat dat wel goedkomt in de andere twee delen.

Ik was als kind al fan van de verhalen van Dorothy en Oz, en dit boek was een aangename verrassing omdat je opnieuw de magische wereld van Oz in stapt maar Dorothy dit keer de schurk is. Het boek leest lekker weg, het taalgebruik is hip en humoristisch, de spannende gedeelten zijn ook echt spannend en veel visueel. Je wordt als het ware meteen het verhaal ingezogen. Ik zag dat deel 2, The Wicked Will Rise, ook al te bestellen is, dus die ga ik op mijn verlanglijstje zetten.

Je komt zeer vlot in het verhaal want wie kent Dorothy van The Wizard of Oz nu niet ;)

Het is zowel spannend als romantisch als avontuurlijk, het boek is een super mengsel van stijlen.

Ik ben nu al benieuwd naar alle boeken die gaan komen ;)

Zeer leuk boek en snelle levering! Ik heb het boek de dag na ik hem besteld heb gekregen. Het boek is in een perfecte conditie. Het is een heel leuk verhaal vooral als je van sprookjesverhalen houd. Dit is een leuke retelling! Ik zou het boek zeker aanraden.

This is a sequel series to the Wizard of Oz. Dorothy Gale lands in Oz after a tornado hits her farm, befriends a tin woodsman, a cowardly lion and a scarecrow, finds the wizard, defeats the wicked witch of the west and goes back to Kansas. But she returns, and turns into an evil dictator. Then, Amy Gumm, another girl from Kansas, lands in Oz after her trailer was hit by a tornado. After meeting some inhabitants and finding out that Oz is in an awful state, she is recruited by the revolutionary order of the wicked, wicked witches that are trying to defeat Dorothy and Glinda. Amy is trained, and receives a mission, she must kill Dorothy.

This series uses many elements from the different stories about Oz, and even though I only know the basic story about Dorothy, I still loved this.
There are three books in the series, Dorothy must Die, the Wicked will Rise and Yellow Brick War, there are rumours about a fourth book but I can't find information about that, though the ending of Yellow Brick War suggests there will be another book. The first book of another series will come out this September.

Danielle Paige loves a bad girl, and Amy is both good and wicked and everything in between, especially in the later books, she goes dark sometimes, and I love that about her, but if you don't, don't read it.

I would recommend this book for teens, kids older than 12 probably. There is romance in the book, but not too much, and the descriptions of it are okay for younger children, though the book might be scary for them. My experience is that younger children prefer main characters that are always good, so I would recommend it to teens.

Dit is echt een goed boek! Ik hou van de originaliteit en de onverwachte wendingen. Iedereen kent het verhaal 'De tovenaar van Oz' wel, maar dit is een geheel nieuwe versie die ingaat op wat er daarna gebeurt. De helden van het originele verhaal zijn nu slecht (iedereen kan slecht worden, zelfs de onschuldige Dorothy) en Oz is niet meer het sprookjesachtige land dat het eerst was, (integendeel het is angstaanjagend). Het is aan Amy (die net als Dorothy met een tornado is aangekomen) om Oz te redden door Dorothy te vermoorden. Amy is een heel erg leuk, grappig en realistisch personage, dus dat maakt het zeker leuk om haar verhaal te lezen. Dit is zeker een aanrader!

I just finished reading this book and I must say that it was an absolute joy to read. The author managed to captivate me from the very first sentence in the book. Her writing style is excellent - you are able to read through it smoothly and it draws you in. The plot itself is brilliant as well. I love the concept of it and she really worked it out well, she did not leave you thinking that it could have been done better.
I recommend this to anyone who loves Fantasy, Action, humor and great writing. And for those of you who love romance, the author thought of you, too! She sprinkled in just the right amount, but it doesn't drown out the rest of the story, it's just there (and cute, if I may add). If you don't like the romance genre, the romance isn't mentioned much. Yes, it is noticeable, but even I (someone who has some form of great dislike for the romance genre) didn't mind it! And if you love romance, well, I think I needn't say more.
Just read it, I promise you you will not regret it!
Now if you will excuse me, I'm going to go read the sequel; 'The Wicked Will Rise'.

Ik heb dit boek net uitgelezen, en ik moet zeggen dat het een absoluut genot was om te lezen. De auteur wist mijn aandacht te veroveren vanaf de eerste zin. Haar schrijf stijl is uitstekend - Je kan er vlot doorlezen en het laat je niet los. Het plot is brilliant. Ik hou van het idee en ze heeft het echt goed uitgewerkt, Je gaat achteraf niet denken dat ze het beter had kunnen doen. Het is gewoon geweldig.
I beveel dit aan aan idereen die van fantasy, actie, humor en goed schrijven houdt. En voor degenen die houden van romantiek; de auteur heeft ook aan jou gedacht! Ze heeft juist de goede hoeveelheid romantiek in het verhaal gestoken. Het overstemt de rest van het verhaal niet, zoals bij vele anderen waar er ook romantiek is. Het is er gewoon (en het is eigenlijk best wel schattig). Als je niet van de romance genre houdt moet je je ook geen zorgen maken; er is niet erg veel sprake van. Ja, je merkt het wel, maar zelfs ik (iemand die een beetje een afkeer heeft voor de romance genre) vond het niet erg! En als je wel van romantiek houdt, wel, ik denk niet dat ik meer moet zeggen.
Lees het gewoon, ik beloof dat je erg geen spijt van zal hebben!
