Emyr does not have a great deal of choice - stay in the hell of his home with his cruel parents or venture out into the wide world on his own, without anyone. After yet another attack he escapes from the house in the early morning to a new life, without any idea of what faces him - even without the certainty that there is anything better than the old life.
