Henry Kissinger
Henry Alfred Kissinger werd in 1923 gebren als Heinz Alfred Kissinger en is een Amerikaanse diplomaat van de Republikeinse Partij, politicoloog en hoogleraar. Hij werkte geruime tijd als Nationaal Veiligheidsadviseur en was minister van Buitenlandse zaken onder de presidenten Nixon en Ford. In 1973 ontving Kissinger de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede. Deze prijs was mede door zijn werk in de staak het vuren in Vietnam, wat nooit rondkwam. Er was veel ophef over de Nobelprijs nominatie, zo erg dat twee leden van het comité zijn opgestapt door deze keus.
Kissingers Realpolitik speelde een prominente rol in de Buitenlandpolitiek van de United States tussen 1996-1977. Het grootste succes van de Chinees-Amerikaanse toenadering met als hoogtepunt het bezoek van Nixon aan China. Kissinger schreef over zijn leven in zijn memoirs waar hij verschillende prijzen voor ontving. Ook schrijft hij ook in het algemeen over politiek en internationale relaties.
