Matt Ruff
Matt Ruff werd in 1965 in New York geboren. Zijn vader werkte als kapelaan in een ziekenhuis en stamde af van een geslacht vredelievende melkveehouders uit het Midwesten; zijn moeder was de dochter van een missionaris en groeide op tussen de slangen en schorpioenen in de jungle van Brazilië. Dankzij hen ontving Matt een interessante morele opvoeding. Matt Ruff publiceerde zijn eerste roman, de cultklassieker Fool on the Hill, in 1988. Zijn meest recente roman, Set This House in Order, werd onderscheiden met de James Tiptree, Jr. Award, een Washington State Book Award en werd genomineerd voor de international IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. De Nederlandse vertaling is nu verkrijgbaar in de boekhandel. In 2006 ontving hij een fellowship van de National Endowment for the Arts. Matt Ruff woont in Seattle, samen met zijn vrouw Lisa Gold.
