From Auschwitz to Du Pont

Ivan's book tells his childhood in Prague, the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Hitler, and the deportation to Auschwitz.He describes the ferocious occurrences in Auschwitz and his flight from the "March of Death" of the Auschwitz prisoners before the advancing Soviet Army. He walked 200 miles to the liberated Slovakia where he was the first Auschwitz prisoner to enlist in theCzechoslovak Liberation Army. Ivan then describes his life in Prague after the war.After the 1948 Communist power takeover with ten dollars he escaped to the US. Under difficult conditions he graduated in law and internationaleconomics. In 1967 he was transferred by the Du Pont Company to Germany. Since his retirement he has taught business management at the University of Maryland in Germany.Ivan's book compares the parallel physical and mental mistreatment in Auschwitz with the mental mistreatment by Du Pont in violating the"Prohibition of the Age Discrimination in Employment" statute.
