Verrassend dat ik dit uiterst belangrijke gedeelte van onze geschiedenis moest lezen bij een Engelse professor. Bijna als een roman geschreven en toch geheel verifieerbaar.
I love this book! I don't totally agree with the title of the book though. The author stresses the importance of the Dutch science and especially art and how it influenced the English. It's very interesting to read about the intermingling of the artists and scientists in England and the Dutch Republic. The book contains a lot of illustrations that bring the story alive. Anyone knows where I can buy a Time Machine?!
