This innovative series grew out of a desire to provide all children with the opportunity to see themselves within the books they are reading and to identify with the children and families they see. The diversity of today's families is clearly captured. The simple text and engaging photographs explore the relationship between very young children and their environment. Each page of Let's Pretend explores a new possibility for an imagination engaged in a game of pretend. Children from various backgrounds pretend to be a mom, a dad, a doctor and patient, restaurant diners, and heroes being pursued by a dragon! Children can build an airplane and escape into the clouds on the wings of let's pretend. If ever a board book reflected the world of a preschool child, here it is: real children whose imaginations reach for the sky.
