Francine Rivers begon haar carrière als schrijfster aan de Universiteit van Nevada, waar ze Engels en Journalistiek studeerde. Sindsdien verschenen er diverse christelijke romans van haar hand die over de hele wereld worden gelezen, zoals 'Verdwaalde ster', 'De roep van de sjofar' en haar nieuwste roman 'Het meesterwerk'. Francine woont met haar man Rick in het noorden van Californië. Ze geniet van de tijd die ze doorbrengt met haar drie volwassen kinderen en grijpt elke gelegenheid aan om haar vier kleinkinderen te verwennen. Door haar schrijven verstevigt ze haar relatie met God en ze hoopt dat ze met haar werk God eert voor alles wat hij in haar leven doet en heeft gedaan.
