China Williams

China Williams is a Baltimore-based writer specializing in travel and culture with a recent interest in travelling with kids after two successful trips to Asia with a toddler. She has contributed to numerous Lonely Planet guidebooks, including best-selling Thailand and Southeast Asia on a Shoestring. Other assignments have taken her to diverse destinations as Malaysia, New York City, Sumatra, and New Orleans. She has worked on a handy and highly portable walking guide series for Chronicle Books and her articles have appeared in various magazines and newspapers.

China Williams grew up in South Carolina. She earned a philosophy degree from St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland and taught English in Thailand. She has previously worked as an editor for travel, geology, and health publications. Most days she is a full-time mom with travel writing as a side job and her two-year-old son as a sidekick.
