John Sandford

John Sandford is het pseudoniem van journalist en Pulitzer Prize-winnaar John Camp.Hij is een van de best gelezen thrillerschrijvers ter werelden alleen al in Nederland en Vlaanderen zijn er meer dan 300.000 exemplaren van zijn boeken verkocht. Sandford werd op 23 februari 1944 geboren onder de naam John Roswell Camp. Na zijn middelbare school studeerde hij amerikanistiek en journalistiek aan de universiteit van Iowa. Hij trad in 1971 als journalist in dienst bij The Miami Herald, waar hij tot en met 1978 werkte, en stapte toen over naar de St. Paul Pioneer-Press. In 1986 won hij de Pulitzer Prize. Vanaf 1990 houdt hij zich fulltime bezig met het schrijven van thrillers. John Sandford heeft een grote interesse in archeologie, (schilder)kunst en fotografie. Hij houdt van jagen en vissen en woont in Minnesota.

Sandford debuteerde als thrillerschrijver in 1989 met twee boeken tegelijk: The Fool’s Run (het eerste boek in de Kidd-reeks, dat in Nederland onder de titel Het duivelscontract verscheen) onder zijn eigenlijke naam John Camp, en Rules of Prey (de eerste Lucas Davenport-thriller, in het Nederlands verschenen als Spel op leven en dood) onder het pseudoniem John Sandford. Intussen zijn er tweeëntwintig thrillers in de Lucas Davenport-reeks, vijf in de Virgil Flowers-reeks en zes andere thrillers verschenen

Samenvatting
