De eerste van twee uitgebreide boxsets van 5 cd's over de opnames van de Rah Band. 'Messages From The Stars – The Rah Band Story Volume 1' beslaat de periode 1977-1984 en bevat uitgebreide versies van de albums 'The Crunch & Beyond', 'Rah Band' en 'Going Up' plus 2 cd's met extra 12”-mixen, 7” mixen en remixen.

The Rah Band werd in 1977 opgericht door Richard Anthony Hewson (RAH) en gelanceerd met 'The Crunch', een vreemd meeslepend instrumentaal nummer dat een mengeling was van glamstomp, space age-jazz en futuristische pop die in zijn slaapkamer in DIY-stijl werd opgenomen.

De single bereikte nummer 6 in de UK Singles Chart en lanceerde een carrière die 25 studio- en compilatiealbums en meer dan 40 singles omvatte, en genoot van hitparade en verkoopsucces in zowel het VK als een aantal overzeese gebieden.

Richard Hewson maakt nog steeds opnames en deze verzameling van zijn opnamen uit de periode 1977-1984 brengt zijn illustere begin in kaart en onthult een uniek talent dat in staat is om jazz en jazzfunk door pop te filteren voor zowel creatief als commercieel effect.
