As a big fan of Russel Brand, I absolutely enjoyed the book, especially because it gave me a chance to get to know his life better: what his childhood was like, what sort of thoughts are in his head, what sort of work he used to do before he became famous etc. Whats interesting about this book and how he writes it, is even more absurd, disturbing, even sad event that he is describing is still in some morbid way hilarious because you can totally hear him saying the text you are reading. His voice and his tone can be grasped throughout the book. I have read many other biographies by other celebrities with absolutely insane and crazy party and drug stories, so I cannot say that subject matter of Russell's book shocked me this much. But I do think for a reader who is not that familiar with wild drug stories it could really be disturbing at times. I still however 10000 % recommend this book to all fans of Russell and to all sorts of open minded people who love a good biography!

Als je van Russell's humor en taalgebruik houdt is dit boek een musthave, doe je dit niet dan is het boek (natuurlijk) niet aan te raden. In het boek doet Russell uitgebreid verslag over zijn drugsleven en verslaafd zijn. Soms is het boek een beetje duister maar dat vond ik wel logisch bij zulke zware onderwerpen. Echter is het meeste met veel humor geschreven, als je het leest kan je je goed voorstellen hoe Russell het verhaal zou vertellen. Een minpuntje is zijn taalgebruik, hij schrijft in ee combinatie van engelse straattaal en hele moeilijke woorden. Maar als je als lezer engels goed beheert is de verhaallijn makkelijk te volgen. Je moet er echter wel even inkomen.

Het boek geeft een prachtig inkijkje in het leven van Brand en hoe hij gekomen is waar hij nu staat. Het wordt al snel duidelijk dat Brand veel meer heeft meegemaakt dan dat hij in dit boek kan vertellen. Je herkent duidelijk Brand's manier van articuleren in de schrijfstijl in zijn boek. Hierdoor ga je het na verloop van tijd al lezend bijna vanzelf in zijn stem 'voorlezen'. Een aanrader voor eenieder wie Brand als unieke persoon kan waarderen.
