Thomas Hertog is een internationaal vermaard kosmoloog en hoogleraar aan de KU Leuven. Hij doctoreerde aan de universiteit van Cambridge en werkte als onderzoeker aan de universiteit van Californië en aan het CERN in Genève. Hertog bestudeert de oerknal op basis van de snaartheorie.
