De geschiedenis van de Beatles wordt in dit boek beschreven aan de hand van een aantal voorvallen en anekdotes. En dat bevalt heel goed. Eén minpuntje zou kunnen zijn dat de hardcore fan wat quotes herkent, maar al met al een zeer goede manier om hetvoverbekende verhaal op een andere wijze te vertellen. Een aanrader voor zowel hondstrouwe als ‘hobby’ fans.

Over de Beatles is inmiddels wel een bibliotheek volgeschreven dus alleen al om die reden is het een knappe prestatie van de auteur om daar een boek aan toe te voegen dat het lezen meer dan waard is. Door het gekozen perspectief (bekende en onbekende verhalen worden verteld vanuit de waarneming van al die paradijsvogels uit de entourage van de groep zoals Maharishi, Magic Alex, fans en tal van anderen) en de vlotte en humoristische schrijfstijl, roept vrijwel iedere pagina een glimlach of een schaterlach op.
