Simon Williams
"Simon Williams (30 november 1979) is een Britse schaker. Hij is, sinds 2008, een grootmeester (GM). Williams schreef in 2004 het boek ""Improve your attacking chess"". In 1993 had hij voor het eerst een internationale FIDE-rating, deze bedroeg 2255. In dat jaar won hij het Britse jeugdkampioenschap in de categorie tot 12 jaar. In 1995 eindigde hij als 16e in het Europese jeugdkampioenschap in de categorie tot 14 jaar. In 1998 werd hij internationaal meester (IM). In dat jaar speelde hij aan het eerste bord namens Engeland in de Schaakolympiade, categorie tot 16 jaar. In 1999 werd hij 7e in Europese kampioenschap, categorie tot 18 jaar. In 2005 won hij het Britse blitz kampioenschap. In april 2005 speelde hij mee in het Gausdal classics toernooi en eindigde met 4 punten op de zesde plaats. In 2008 werd hij grootmeester in 2008, na de laatste hiervoor benodigde norm behaald te hebben in Hastings 2005/2006.
