Patricia Paay… La Paay… Nederlandse diva met internationale allure, maar bovenal één van Nederlands beste zangeressen.

Op 7 april 2024 blaast Patricia Paay 75 kaarsjes uit. Deze mijlpaal viert muzieklabel CD-licious met de oeuvre-boxset ‘Forever Young: The Complete Album Collection & More’ op maar liefst 13 CD’s: van de eerste single uit 1966 tot en met haar meest recente opname uit 2020, inclusief de internationale megasuccessen met The Star Sisters. Van de 219 tracks zijn er 43 voor het eerst op CD; 17 tracks zijn nooit eerder uitgebracht.

De 13-CD boxset verzamelt alle albums uit haar illustere 60-jarige carrière, aangevuld met heel veel bonustracks. Natuurlijk met de successen: ‘Je Bent Niet Hip’, ‘Who’s That Lady With My Man’, ‘Living Without You’, ‘Malibu’, ‘Who Let The Heartache In’, ‘Saturday Nights’ en ‘Tomorrow’. Met The Star Sisters behaalde in 1983 zij de top in de Europese hitlijsten.

Naast haar Duitstalige singles verzamelt de collectie ook de duetten met o.a. Jacques Kloes, Will Tura, Gordon, Gerard Joling, Rob de Nijs, David Hasselhoff en Yvonne Keeley. Herontdekte tracks zijn haar inzending voor het Sopot Songfestival 1968, zes bijdragen aan het album ‘Zeg Het Met Bloemen’ en de single ‘Godzilla’ van The Star Sisters, die alleen in Japan verscheen. In archieven zijn singles uit 1968 en 1975 teruggevonden die nooit zijn uitgebracht, plus ‘Mambo Italiano’ opgenomen in 2004. Patricia’s liefde voor jazz en standards blijkt uit zes unieke opnamen uit TV-shows met het Metropole Orkest, waaronder ‘New York, New York’, ‘Smile’ en Gershwin’s ‘The Man I Love’.

Van The Star Sisters zijn alle 12”-versies op een van de drie bonus discs verzameld, plus het nooit eerder uitgebrachte nummer ‘Rhythm’, opgenomen in 1987 vlak voordat Patricia naar Amerika verhuisde.

In het booklet vertelt Patricia over haar omvangrijke muziekcarrière, aangevuld met herinneringen van o.a. Barry Hay (Golden Earring), Jaap Eggermont en Steve Harley (Cockney Rebel) en foto’s van Govert de Roos. Alle tracks zijn door Wouter Bessels geremastered van de originele mastertapes.

De 13-CD boxset is een muzikaal document dat het enorme talent van Patricia Paay welverdiend opnieuw in de schijnwerpers zet. De collectie verschijnt in een genummerde gelimiteerde oplage.
