Productbeschrijving
The Red Queen series of books is set in a post nuclear holocaust society. Civilisation has reverted to a medieval type, complicated by societies of mutants each jealously guarding its racial purity and home lands. Racism is rife, and warfare is common. Into this tumultuous and unstable society comes the influence of the Red Queen. She seeks to conquer countries about her by fomenting wars, and so weakening them. Her chief weapon is the ability to possess minds, and control them. Her agents, beautiful young women with mind powers, first seduce, and then corrupt and control, the Kings and leaders. In book 1, "Red Queen Dawning", her activities are thwarted by three mutant outcasts, a giant, an elf woman, and a drark. They are able to channel the mind powers of the female elves to defeat her in the great battle which is the culmination of the book. She realises that she cannot succeed in bringing the lands under her control while the elves' combined mind power is greater than her own. In book 2, "Strike of the Viper", the Red Queen sets out to destroy the Elf Nation. She sends one of her agents to try to seduce and corrupt the Prince of the elves. She has gained control of the King of their traditional enemies, the Nasdarks, and she brings against them the warriors of another nation, the feared, snake worshipping, poison-wielding Vipands, whom she has corrupted and controlled. It is feared that she has also gained possession of a holocaust weapon, and might bring it into play at any time. The three mutants must continue the struggle against her to save the Elves, and to find, and attempt to regain the holocaust weapon, before she returns the Firetime to the land. Those readers who enjoyed "Red Queen Dawning", will surely find "Strike of the Viper" an equally good read.
