Raymond Tallis
Raymond Tallis (1946) was tot 2006 professor geriatrie aan de universiteit van Manchester. In 2005 werd hij door het tijdschrift Prospect gerekend tot de honderd belangrijkste intellectuelen van Groot-Brittannië. In 2007 werd hij door The Independent gerekend tot de vijftig ‘Brains of Britain’. Tallis heeft verschillende boeken op zijn naam staan, onder andere Not Saussure en Why the Brain Is Not a Computer.

Neuromania and Darwinitis deny human uniqueness, minimise the differences between us and our nearest animal kin and offer a grotesquely simplified account of humanity. We are, argues Tallis, infinitely more interesting and complex than we appear in the mirror of biology.
