"Jason Derülo, geboren als Jason Joel Desrouleaux, (Miami, Florida, 21 september 1989) is een Amerikaans zanger, songwriter, acteur en danser. Hij verwierf wereldwijde bekendheid met zijn debuutsingle Whatcha Say uit 2009. Jason is een zoon van Haïtiaanse ouders. Vanaf zijn vijfde trad Jason al op en op zijn achtste schreef hij zijn eerste nummer: Crush on you. Als tiener studeerde hij opera, theater en ballet. Op twaalfjarige leeftijd ontmoette hij Frank Harris, zijn latere manager. Jason Derülo begon zijn zangcarriëre in 2007 met het liedje Bossy en in datzelfde jaar kreeg hij een platencontract.
