The Long Journey

This is a book written by my father Billy M. Westra, Sr. Today he turned 84. He was a proud sailor in the US Navy, a professional long haul Truck Driver. This is a story about his life from his early beginnings to present day. My siblings (Robert Lee Westra, Brandi Marie Westra, and Brandon Scott Westra) and myself, Bryan Westra, encouraged him to write this book. As children dad would tell us the most amazing stories from his childhood and life. It was fascinating hearing him tell these stories and share with us his experiences. Watching my father's face light up as he recalled these memories from his past was priceless. The way my father tells a story is captivating. I am extremely excited my father wrote this book, and I hope the unaware reader will benefit from: (a) Learning about a different generation (dad was born in 1931 at the end of the Great Depression); (b) Discovering a perspective of someone who proudly served in the US Navy, aboard the famous battleship The U.S.S.
