Peter Frankopan studeerde geschiedenis in Cambridge. Hij is sinds 2000 Senior Research Fellow aan Worcester College en directeur van The Centre for Byzantine Research aan de Universiteit van Oxford. Bruno Macaes schreef met Dawn of Eurasia een beter en gedetailleerder boek over dit onderwerp. Ook Jonathan Holslag heeft hier veel over geschreven. Dit boek lijkt wat haastwerk en gaat ook veel over USA onder Trump tov de wereld. Overall nog best interessant.
