Geschreven bij The Shards
Bret Easton Ellis keert eindelijk terug met een roman en hij pakt goed uit met zijn langste boek tot nu toe. Daardoor kan Ellis in details zijn tienerjaren in Los Angeles aan het begin van de jaren tachtig beschrijven. Met name de eerste 100 pagina's zijn geweldig wanneer je denkt dat het verhaal 100% autobiografisch is. De sfeer is heel filmisch waarbij hij lekker gebruik maakt van horrorfilmclichés. De laatste 100 pagina's zijn ongemeen spannend en las ik in een ruk uit. Heel eigenzinnig.
