Na bejubelde uitvoeringen op het Edinburgh Festival en daarna in Melbourne, bevat Sir Andrew Davis' opname van Massenets opera Thaïs een uitstekende cast en uitzonderlijke prestaties van zijn Toronto troepen. Thaïs werd geschreven kort na de première van zijn meesterwerk Werther en werd gecomponeerd voor de Californische sopraan Sybil Sanderson die de première gaf in de Parijse Opéra in 1894. Sandersons uitvoering was een triomf, maar de opera zelf werd gemengd ontvangen. Nadat Massenet het in 1898 had herzien, werd het een wereldwijd succes in de jaren voorafgaand aan de Eerste Wereldoorlog en heeft het in onze tijd een voortdurend en groeiend succes gekend. De rol van Thaïs heeft veel grote artiesten aangetrokken, waaronder Mary Garden, Geraldine Farrar, Maria Jeritza, Leontyne Price, Beverley Sills en Renée Fleming. Volgens de Financial Times is 'Erin Wall de Thaïs van je dromen, met een sopraan van glans, ongerepte schoonheid en tintelende topnoten'. Op de opname wordt ze vergezeld door Joshua Hopkins in de rol van Athanaël, terwijl Nicias wordt gezongen door Andrew Staples. Opgenomen in Toronto's Roy Thompson Hall, na live uitvoeringen, in Surround Sound en beschikbaar op hybride SACD.
