Samenvatting
Vaughan George, a young petroleum engineer was returning with his colleagues from a platform when the chopper they were traveling with crashed into the blue sea. By providence, he was pushed by raging waves some meters away from an Island. A young lady was paddling her canoe when she noticed him from a distance. She came to his rescue and brought him to her parents. Vaughan's presence was registered when he dethroned Oroto-the great wrestler, held in awe by the natives of the Island. He was further held in reverence when through his efforts, Kabuki - the fierce dragon monster was captured and sent to America zoo. These great achievements made the people of the Island worshipped him as the new god sent down to them. Vaughan was bitter on this, but finally sent to Vine-Harcourt - the great city, for missionaries. The missionaries established church, school and a government office for the governing of the new district council. Beni attended this school and upon graduation, worked as a teacher and later as an administrative officer of the newly established district's council office. Few years later, she wedded Vaughan according to the tradition of Isombe and traveled to America with her husband for further studies. In America, Vaughan and Beni distinguished themselves in their chosen careers. They made names both in the academic and corporate world. Unfortunately, fate caught up with Vaughan and he died as a result of the damage done to his kidney by excessive intake of alcohol. Beni became a federal secretary and a member of the kitchen cabinet of the president and visited Africa several times in the official capacity. This novel is a material not only for students who have strong passion for literature, but also for those who wanted to know about the rich cultural value of societies. How they conflict with each other when they interplay and the conflict resolution mechanism. It is incisive, educative and interesting.
