The mystical world of Turmali is in crisis. Invading aliens from outer space have stolen the Tourmaline gemstones that give power and light to this far-off world. Zhou Bao is one of the twelve GoMadKids and he has his own series of ten books for readers to enjoy. In this particular story, the first in the Zhou Bao series, Bao has his first encounter with the dreaded Light Killers in the city of Shanghai; his grandfather tells him the intriguing legend of the Nine Dragon Pillar and explains that the dragons on the pillar have the ability to come to life; and Bao uses his kung-fu skills to protect his grandfather and save a beautiful Tourmaline gemstone from vicious thieves. At the end of the story, a magical rainbow bridge appears and Bao takes a few tentative steps towards a mysterious land.
