Terry Deary
Terry Deary werd op 3 januari in 1946 geboren in Sunderland in het noordwesten van Engeland. Na zijn middelbare school volgde hij een opleiding tot leraar. Twee jaar lang gaf hij les op een basisschool. Daarna gaf hij nog twee jaar toneellessen. In 1972 werd hij acteur van beroep. Naast het acteren schreef en regisseerde hij kindervoorstellingen. In 1975 begon hij met het schrijven van boeken. Hij gebruikte daarvoor het eerst zijn meest succesvolle theatervoorstellingen die hij voor kinderen had geschreven.
Hij is auteur van onder andere Die gave Grieken, Die eeuwige Egyptenaren, Ruige ridders en kille kastelen, Geest ontsnapt.
