'Zen and the Art of Poker' is een heel apart boekje voor pokerspelers. Het boek benadert uitsluitend het mentale aspect van poker. Het zal je technisch pokerspel op geen enkele manier verbeteren, maar helpt je om je mentaal goed op te stellen bij poker, en dat aspect is even belangrijk dan de technische vaardigheid.

Het is een vlot leesbaar, dun boekje waar je zeker hier en daar iets kunt uithalen dat je zal helpen aan de pokertafel. Het bevat concepten om je mentaal sterker te maken, leuke anekdotes, bekende citaten om over na te denken, enz.

Samen met het boek 'The Poker Mindset' zijn dit de twee boeken die elke pokerspeler zou moeten lezen voor wat betreft zijn of haar mentale skills.
