Ik had geen ervaring met andere boeken over plotlines/stories. Ook heb ik dit boek niet gelezen met als doel om een boek o.i.d. te schrijven. Ik wilde me meer verdiepen in storytelling voor marketing/presentatie doeleinden. De auteur richt zich tot (toekomstig) auteurs en screenwriters, desalniettemin was de informatie ook voor mijn doeleinden bruikbaar.

Dit boek maakt het erg simpel. De auteur begint met een uiteenzetting van het verschil tussen verhalen en plots. Hierbij behandeld hij de kernelementen. Dit vond ik zelf het meest nuttige van het boek - had ik op voorhand niet verwacht. De verschillende plot-lines zijn ook helder. Al verwacht ik niet dat iemand ze alle 20 nodig zal hebben.
