Answering Eternity's Call Becoming a Homeward-Bound Seafarer of Revelation

Somewhere deep inside, we inherently know that we were not meant to die. The work of Divine grace kindles this epiphany, as our Creator beckons each of us back ''home.'' Eternity beckons us to sail the Sea of Revelation, as we embrace the rekindled dreams of childhood - when we trusted and believed in what we could not see. While standing before this crossroads of faith, we feel the prompting to begin an adventure to explore our Creator's ''self-disclosure'' seeking answers to our true destiny in the world.

Answering this Call of Eternity launches us out on a life-changing adventure in pursuit of (1) the knowledge of our Creator's revealed identity, (2) our true identity and life-story, and (3) the eternal shores where the God-relationship will be the central theme of the Never Ending Story of Creation. Before chronicling our Creator's self-disclosure in the God Story that we accept as our story, we begin with introductory volumes of personal consecration and preparation. This orientation comes from the standpoint of what we will refer to as a Homeward-bound Voyage. To this end, we herein aim to heed the Call of Eternity, arrive at the ''Harbor of Christian Doctrines'' and step onto the ''Dock of Trinitarian Dogma.''


DESCRIPTION OF SERIES


Many of us in the Christian community have accepted doctrinal beliefs concerning the Trinity without much consideration. Nevertheless, do we truly understand these beliefs, why they are true, or how to apply them in our daily lives? Are these beliefs gathering dust in our minds due to oversimplifications of unsatisfactory analogies that veil this awe-inspiring & beautiful Divine Mystery?

Those of us daring to go deeper and to take our Trinitarian beliefs in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit seriously and practically should heed the boarding call for an epic voyage. Our ship of “Faith Seeking Understanding” seeks out the living and endless source of spiritual knowledge foundational to every core doctrine of our Faith. We launch out on faith-journeys seeking to reground the orthodox doctrine of the Trinity in the rich soil of Revelation.

This book is the first volume in the First Series of Rediscovering the Triune I AM: A Narrative Approach to Systematic Trinitarian Theology . In the First Series: Preparing to Set Sail Under the Banner of Trinitarian Orthodoxy , Eternity beckons the reader to sail the Sea of Revelation cognizant of the heavenly calling to together know, serve, and enjoy the Triune I AM.

In heading toward this final destination, the crew heeds the call of Jesus Christ to embark on a voyage inaugurated by His mandate to be “baptized in the NAME of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit” (Matt 28:19). This singular name stands out as a fuller rendition of the Divine name revealed to Moses: “Yahweh (''I AM THAT I AM'') (Exod 3:13-15). Hence, we who choose to embark seek to understand how the Christian God who has wooed us to Him is identical to the God revealed in the Old Testament. Therefore, we together seek answers in the story of the Triune I AM’s Self-Disclosures intent on re-discovering, for ourselves, the biblical roots of belief in the Trinity, and in turn, re-discover our true identity as those made in His triune image and our destiny as a living temple of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

These “Trinitarian Voyages” will show us how the story of the Maker’s self-disclosure resounds with coherent echoes of the core tenants of Trinitarian doctrine. The Early Church affirmed, elucidated, and defended these tenets, some at the cost of their lives. Even still, those of us undertaking these demanding yet rewarding voyages will learn how to reaffirm and appropriate Biblical Trinitarianism for the community of faith in the 21st century. Finally, we will then be in a better position to confidently understand how our own life story unfolds as part of the overarching storyline of the God Story.
